    ADL

Many patients who hire a professional caregiver do so because they find fundamental daily tasks, or activities of daily living (ADLs), to be challenging to perform independently. ADLs refers to certain essential tasks that we all must perform in daily life to live independently.

While being able to perform ADLs without support or asking for appropriate assistance certainly makes aging in place a more realistic goal, managing instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs) also promotes independence and a higher quality of life.

    Respite Care

Some seniors are fortunate to have family caregivers who support their goals and help them to remain safe and comfortable at home. When this is the case, professional caregiver services are often viewed as less essential, but they still offer many benefits.

What is Home Care?

When your family needs support to help an aging loved one remain safe and comfortable at home, Sunshine Homecare offers viable solutions. Our experienced caregivers offer reliable services to ensure your loved one enjoys the appropriate level of support and supervision right at home. We provide a wide range of services that include assistance with activities of daily living and instrumental activities of daily living, socialization and supervision, as well as reliable respite support to give family caregivers the breaks they need to live fuller, more productive lives.

Activities of daily living (ADLs) are basic tasks and self-care activities necessary for health, safety and independence. While many people remain independent with ADLs for most of their life, a time sometimes comes when extra support is necessary because of a health diagnosis, dementia, an injury or the aging process.

Instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs) also support independence.  While these tasks are not considered fundamental in the same way that ADLs are, they do contribute to a healthier, higher quality of life.

Respite care focuses on providing essential support to family caregivers. It ensures that seniors have reliable assistance available and provided by professional caregivers when family members cannot be in the home or are for other reasons not immediately engaged in providing care.

Who Benefits from Home Care Services?

Seniors benefit from home care services when they reach a point in the aging process where they need more help, after a fall or while recovering after a hospitalization. This level of care also empowers seniors to remain independent at home after a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s, arthritis, COPD or another chronic health concern. Sunshine Homecare offers a high level of flexibility to best meet the family’s needs. Care is available hourly or around the clock, holidays, weekends or anytime you need it most.

Who Pays for In Home Care Services?

In most cases, Sunshine Homecare services are private pay. In some cases, long term care insurance may fully or partially cover the cost of in home care. We are happy to help you facilitate this process if you have an established policy. To ensure value, Sunshine Homecare develops personalized care plans that include the appropriate level of care and flexible scheduling that accommodates your loved one’s needs and lifestyles. Unlike in many facilities, your family is never expected to pay for hours or tasks that are unwanted or unnecessary. As a result, many families find our services to be a cost effective alternative to institutional care.
